"The Mustang, Nevada's rural prison where Roman Coleman, a young man with a violent past, is serving time for his crimes. Cut off from the outside world, Roman refuses to communicate with anyone, including his daughter who comes to visit him at the prison. Struggling to distance himself from his violent past, Roman decides to participate in a rehabilitation program organized by the state. As part of the program, he is assigned the task of training wild mustangs. Throughout the training, Roman tries to establish a connection with the horses and his fellow inmates. Working alongside Henry, another inmate, and Myles, an elderly trainer, Roman focuses particularly on taming a stubborn and aggressive horse. As he attempts to calm the horse down, Roman also confronts his own past.
